Complex Dissociation

Working with complex dissociation has been a large passion of mine. For many people, having a disjointed sense of identity and/or amnesia can lead to isolation from others. When it's hard enough to understand yourself and your emotions, managing other aspects of life can feel overwhelming. Whether this shows up as Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), Other Specified Dissociative Disorder (OSDD), or as aspects of other conditions like PTSD, dissociation can be tricky to navigate day-to-day.

Disconnecting from your surroundings, and even yourself at times, is an adaptive response to overwhelming stress from a young age. However, some parts of you may feel stuck in a past experience, and responding to your surroundings in ways that might feel confusing. Some parts may feel actively harmful or lead to decisions you regret.

As a therapist that also has complex dissociation, I'm passionate about providing an affirming space to support your personal goals. Whether you just want to function better, process trauma, or somewhere in between those things, I'm here for ALL parts of you.

Autism and ADHD

The majority of my clients have ADHD and/or Autism, which come with their own unique challenges.

Navigating life with Autism Spectrum Disorder/ASD often means seeing life through a different lens. Differences in communication styles and/or routines can make connection with others complicated in unexpected ways. Sensory issues can make ordinary things like going to the grocery store or even getting out of the house challenging, too. As a neurodivergent therapist, I understand the struggle and love to help my Autistic clients finally be understood.

ADHD has a lot of its own struggles as well, from managing daily tasks and overcoming the weight of executive dysfunction. There's lots of ways to help navigate things like motivation, and starting with understanding your brain's needs is of the utmost importance.

If you're questioning whether you have ADHD or Autism, I'm always open to talking about your experiences and symptoms as well!

Complex Trauma

What brings many clients to therapy is to process and understand their past experiences. While some have dealt with a singular traumatic event, many have a history of complex trauma built from ongoing periods of toxic stress.

Trauma can build up over time from prolonged stress, such as abusive relationships or unhealthy family dynamics. The effects can show up in a lot of ways, with hypervigilance, people-pleasing tendencies, anger, and much more. It can feel like wading through an ocean of complexity and struggle, without many others who can understand your experiences or see you for who you really are. I provide an affirming space to accommodate your unique needs without judgment, where you can truly be yourself.

I love to dig in deep to the complexity to see you in your full context. While your trauma doesn't define you, it can deeply impact the way you view the world around you. You may have a perfectionistic part of yourself, compulsively driving you to unattainable standards. Or possibly an avoidance of close relationships to protect you from being hurt again. Each part is valuable and there for a reason, and I'd love to help you understand them all.

Are you experienced in...

I have a lot of experience with a wide variety of mental health conditions outside of those listed above, ranging from psychosis to Bipolar Disorder to Generalized Anxiety Disorder.

If you have particular questions or want to know if I can help your specific situation, I'd like to invite you to schedule a brief consult call with me! Even if I'm not an ideal fit for you, I'd love to see if I can help refer you to an appropriate therapist or service.
